Bankruptcy Filings Drop in South Central Texas
Good news for homeowners in South Central Texas: bankruptcy filings have dropped significantly in the area over the past month.
According to one bankruptcy researcher, the month of June saw 100 less filings than the same period last year. After reviewing the numbers, bankruptcy experts determined that the 22% decrease came from a serious decline in personal bankruptcy filings. These included both liquidation and reorganization bankruptcies in the area.
Both Chapter 7 and
Chapter 13 bankruptcy filings dropped in June, as well as the number of businesses filing for
Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. While the numbers look good for now, financial experts caution that we are not out of the massive bankruptcy wave sweeping the country just yet.
