RHI Entertainment Inc to Exit Bankruptcy

Good news for RHI Entertainment Inc: a judge has confirmed their bankruptcy plan exit while under control of its senior lenders.

The company will swap their debt for equity to keep their movie production company running under its new restructurement plan. In other bankruptcy news state lawmakers will meet with officials from Jefferson County in Alabama to discuss how they can avoid what would be the largest municipal bankruptcy filing in history. Thanks to a court disallowing a local tax, the county finds itself in serious financial trouble.

U.S. lawmakers will also have to decide how to overhaul the U.S. mortgage market as the economy attempts to slowly repair itself. Senators from both sides of the aisle are issuing warnings that moving too fast could be dangerous. This is particularly in response to a host of new bills that are being discussed on the House floor.
