Animal Sanctuary Shut Down due to Bankruptcy

While most bankruptcy cases involve people fighting to keep their homes, one case involved a bunch of monkeys.

An animal refuge that was home to 112 monkeys and one baboon was forced to file for bankruptcy earlier this month. The officials of the refuge worked hard to ensure that the animals would not be forced to be euthanized due to the lack of a home. After hours of research and pleas, the group was able to find another home.

However, the move had to be approved by a bankruptcy judge first. After presenting their case to the court, a judge agreed to allow the 113 animals to move to a primate sanctuary in Texas. These primates will join others that have come from life-threatening situations such as living in roadside zoos and laboratories.
