Texas Foreclosure Numbers Show Improvement

Some states are closer than others to climbing out of the economic holes they have been in. Texas shows serious promise for getting back on track very soon.

According to a state U.S. bankruptcy court, southern Texas had fewer bankruptcy filings over the past year. Overall, that area of the state saw a ten percent decrease in bankruptcy filings. While 4,387 filings is certainly a high number, it does represent nearly 500 less than in 2010. In fact, it is the lowest figure since 2008 when the country was in what was being called the Great Recession.

One of the reasons why bankruptcy filings may have declined is the decrease in foreclosure filings during the year. Thanks to the robo-signing scandal, thousands of homeowners were given extra time to figure out a way to save their homes.
